Position Overview

O’Neil Printing is looking for an experienced Offset Press Operator to play a critical role in producing high quality printed materials that meet our high standards and customers’ expectations. You’ll be responsible for operating and maintaining a 40” Heidelberg UV press on 2nd shift utilizing state of the art Push to Stop technology to drive efficiency through automation.

What You’ll Do

  • Set up, operate, and maintain 40″ offset printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials according to job specifications.
  • Review job tickets, layouts, proofs, and production schedules to ensure accurate setup and execution.
  • Adjust ink, water balance, registration, color density, and press settings to maintain print quality and consistency throughout production runs.
  • Perform make-ready procedures, including plate mounting, blanket installation, feeder setup, and paper alignment.
  • Monitor print quality using densitometers, color standards, and visual inspections to meet customer and company quality expectations.
  • Troubleshoot press issues, registration problems, paper jams, and mechanical malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of press equipment.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including run speeds, waste, downtime, and material usage.
  • Coordinate with prepress, bindery, and production teams to ensure efficient workflow and on-time delivery.
  • Follow all workplace safety procedures, OSHA regulations, and company policies.
  • Manage paper stock, inks, coatings, and other materials to reduce waste and maximize efficiency.
  • Train and assist junior press operators or press helpers as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pressroom environment.

What You Bring

  • Experience operating 40″ sheetfed offset presses (Heidelberg, Komori or similar).
  • Strong understanding of color management, registration, and print quality standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret job specifications and production documentation.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts when production demands require.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn, cross train and adapt to evolving technologies

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is a production environment position that may require incumbent to work flex hours to meet company needs and schedule requirements. While performing the duties of this job, employees are occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and airborne particles, loud noises, and vibration. Employees in this position may be advised or required to utilize personal protective equipment including but not limited to ear protection, eye protection, foot protection, lifting equipment, and protective smocks.
