Commercial Printer in Phoenix: What 110 years of printing has taught us
We commonly hear that print is dying. And while that’s somewhat true, we are seeing a shift in the type of printing and technology used to output projects. We think it’s really interesting to see this evolution especially within the 100+ year history of our own company! For those of you who are new to O’Neil, we are a commercial printer in Phoenix and have been a pillar in the downtown Phoenix community for decades. We’ve been named one of Arizona’s 7 Most Enduring Businesses by the Downtown Phoenix Journal and one of the top 18 Arizona Businesses with Staying Power by AZ Central. While these are great accolades, they point to the innovation that’s occurred in the print industry.
From our beginnings as a letter writing business, O’Neil has had a knack for innovation. The letter writing business was something that was not going to stand the test of time (can you imagine hiring a company to write your letters?). Yet that was a dominant form of communication in the early 1900’s, so it was a fitting go-to-market solution for a young company.
The letter writing business later translated into commercial printing. Between those periods, O’Neil was the first printer in the state to be approved to use the Intelligent mail barcode – a systematic way to drive direct mail at scale. O’Neil’s entry into offset printing set the company apart from many other commercial printers. Offset printing requires complex color matching and attention to detail. It was important for O’Neil to be the leader in offset printing and to gain a reputation in this arena.
Fast forward some years, and O’Neil still has a vision to build solutions to complex problems that require a high level of attention to detail. Companies that are able to stand the test of time don’t stay stagnant – their solutions evolve with market demands and technology. The solutions that accompany our vision look a bit different than they did during our letter writing days. Advertising has driven more visuals accomplished through large format printing. This includes banners, environmental signage, fabricated signage and much more! Custom online portals also allow large companies to order their marketing materials anywhere around the world with quick run times on the HP Indigo and fast turnaround. Kitting and fulfillment are capabilities that allow O’Neil to service the needs of clients who don’t want to store inventory, but want to order this inventory on demand. These are solutions that complement our drive to take care of our clients wholistic marketing challenges.
Although our solutions may look different than our early days as a letter writing company and commercial printer in Phoenix, the family-like atmosphere and dedication to solving problems for our clients still remains. We look forward to providing you with the best experience possible through our consultative, problem solving approach.
