How Our Company Has Gone Green – Environmentally Responsible Printing
It’s Easy Being Green!
At O’Neil, we help keep each client project we work on environmentally responsible and sustainable. Many facets of our process involve the use of green technology and the application of eco-friendly options to provide environmentally responsible printing. Two of the many alternatives we implement include vegetable-based inks with eco-solvent printers and biodiesel fuel in our delivery trucks.
Vegetable-Based Inks
Many conventional commercial printers use petroleum-based inks, which release high volumes of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) into the atmosphere. When VOCs are released into the air, they can greatly contribute to the breaking down of the ozone. Additionally, petroleum-based inks come from a nonrenewable resource. Vegetable-based inks, however, emit little to no VOCs and are formulated using vegetable oils and other organic materials. We use Toyo HyPlus 100 series process inks for our projects, which are virtually VOC free and contain no petroleum oil or solvents.
Biodiesel Fuel
Petroleum diesel fuel made from crude oil produces environment-damaging toxins into the air. At O’Neil, we use nontoxic biodiesel fuel for our delivery trucks. Biodiesel is a renewable, biodegradable fuel manufactured domestically from vegetable oils, recycled grease and animal fats. Biodiesel combustion produces fewer air pollutants that are harmful to the environment and to people than it’s petroleum counterpart.
